Peanut Butter Bars Recipe

This peanut butter bars recipe would be an excellent idea for that brown bag lunch your children will be taking to school tomorrow or for you to enjoy on your break tomorrow afternoon. They are delicious with a cold glass of milk. This recipe conjured up the old commercial, "Your chocolate got in my peanut butter" - "Your peanut butter got in my chocolate"! I can't think of a better combination!

This is one of those easy dessert recipes that you can have on hand for any occasion whether it is for that family reunion or Tuesday Night Tacos.

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup Karo syrup
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

In a large mixing bowl, cream together peanut butter, butter, brown sugar and syrup.

Add eggs and vanilla...

and mix well.

To the creamed mixture, slowly add flour, baking powder, salt…

chocolate chips…

and pecans. The dough will be stiff.

Pour and spread onto a cookie pan.

Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 25 minutes.

Let cool before cutting into squares. (Tip: I have found that a pizza cutter works great when cutting bars like these.)
